Right for me?

This formula was created to supply the brain with the nutrients it needs to function optimally. If your body is deficient in certain B-vitamins, is lacking in sleep, or is laden with sugar, it may not be able to convert amino acids to neurotransmitters.  The B vitamins also help break down toxic homocysteine in the brain. The minerals iron, iodine, zinc and magnesium also help with neurotransmitter production, as well as neurotransmitter communication by being deposited in the nerve cells. Research shows that people with attention deficits often are deficient in minerals.  Antioxidants protect brain cells from free radicals, as well as protect the brain against neurotransmitter depletion.

This product is not intended for children. Do not take if you are taking medication for Thyroid Disorders, Diabetes, or Insulin Management, or if you take blood thinners.

The Science Behind the Formula:

Curcumin

"Chronic (seven consecutive days, once per day) but not acute (once a day) curcumin improved the cognitive functions in a dose-dependent manner"

Link to Study

Alpha Lipoic Acid

"Administration of alpha-lipoic acid for 28 days significantly restored cognitive deficits…" [animal model]

Link to Study

"In vitro, animal, and preliminary human studies indicate that α-lipoate may be effective in numerous neurodegenerative disorders."

Link to Study

Iron

"These findings add to the growing literature implicating iron deficiency in ADHD"

Link to Study

Iodine

"Iodine is required for the production of thyroid hormones, which are necessary for normal brain development and cognition."

Link to Study

Zinc

” The dopamine transporter is regulated by zinc…dopamine transporter is involved in the pathogenesis of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)"

Link to Study

Magnesium

"Overall, the preliminary reports are promising that magnesium is effective for treating ADHD. This effect may be due to magnesium deficiency…"

Link to Study

B vitamins

"Most   micronutrients (vitamins and trace-elements) have been directly evaluated in the setting of cerebral functioning…Vitamin B9 [Folic Acid] preserves brain during its development and memory during ageing. Vitamins B6 and B12, among others, are directly involved in the synthesis of some neurotransmitters. Vitamin B12 delays the onset of signs of dementia…supplementation with cobalamin improves cerebral and cognitive functions in the elderly; it frequently improves the functioning of factors related to the frontal lobe, as well as the language function of those with cognitive disorders. "

Vitamin D

"Vitamin D deficiency is associated with brain structural abnormalities, cognitive decline, and incident dementia."

Link to Study

"Low 25(OH)D levels were associated with worse global cognitive function and greater decline over time"

About Product

This formula was created to supply the brain with the nutrients it needs to function optimally. If your body is deficient in certain B-vitamins, is lacking in sleep, or is laden with sugar, it may not be able to convert amino acids to neurotransmitters.  The FOCUS Plus formula has added curcumin for an added boost of antioxidants; additional antioxidants alpha lipoic acid, selenium, and Vitamin E for brain support; added B vitamins for optimal neurotransmitter production; and Vitamin D for neuroprotection against dementia.

Research shows that nutrient deficiencies can lead to attention disorders and that repleting nutrientscan alleviate attention disorders (see here for an example).

This product is not intended for children. Do not take this product if you are taking medication for thyroid disorders, diabetes, or insulin management.

This nutritional formula was developed by nutrition expert Debra Waldoks, MPH, RDN who originally created this formula for a client who was experiencing attention problems in the classroom. After following Debra's protocol, her client's attention problems disappeared. She has since used her protocol for many clients over the years, always with great results. Every order comes with nutrition advice from Debra, included with the supplement so that her online customers can follow the complete protocol as well.
